TransitHub featured on the Startup Weekend Blog!
Great #TransitHubbing news this week as TransitHub was featured on the global Startup Weekend Blog! The Startup Weekend community spans cities all across the world, and hopefully this post will get more entrepreneurs and tech-savvy individuals excited about the idea of TransitHub coming to their city. Below is the post that was featured, titled "How Startup Weekend Brought the TransitHub Team Together":
How Startup Weekend Brought the TransitHub Team Together
They say that a startup is only as good as the people behind it. Having a stand-out idea is one thing, but finding the right partners to help make it a reality is another story altogether. Luckily for me, Startup Weekend Toronto (June 3-5, 2011) was the solution – the catalyst that brought our team together.
I began with just a simple pitch: I wanted TransitHub to be a “community for commuters”, a platform for transit users to share insights that would help them discover their city. Three more quickly joined the team, friends of mine: an expert developer, a startup veteran, and a business guru. Then, before I knew it, four more joined the cause: two more developers, a graphic designer, and even a closet hipster!
Startup Weekend was the catalyst, the ignition that got us going. But the true engine behind TransitHub – the thing that pushes us, drives us, and keeps us from killing each other – is passion: a passion for helping people get the most out of their city and its transit system. It’s been a fun ride for our team of eight so far, and we won’t get off until we make TransitHub a reality…
